If you listen with the heart of a child, and set your spirit right, then you may hear her speak.
She stands now, on Sugar Hollow Park’s border, not much more than a couple of football fields from the thousands of cars who daily pass within range of her senses. (You can visit her, too, on Resting Tree Drive, in Bristol, VA.)
Yet, how many of those passersby know what a nearby treasure they ignore?
The Bristol Herald-Courier once did a front-page article on the Resting Tree, stating that I likely had spent more time beneath her outstretched limbs than any living person.
This is possibly true, as I’ve taken nearly a thousand children to visit her.
